The Banyan is timeless. Infinitely caressing the human settlements - they grow with cities, growing from oneself. With urban development, the Banyan has been left negligent for a while. With this installation, we are hence remembering the geometry within the organics and respecting the SOUND OF SILENCE amidst the chaos.

The Five Elements of Nature have been represented as embellishments to the abstract Banyan. As one traverses Beneath The Banyan, they are indulged in the said embellishments.
The geometry within the roots depict Earth. The sound of Earth, echoes from the grounded bamboo poles - creating Space. The sound of space is that of silence.

The sound of Air is captured by wind-chimes and flutes. They hold onto Space and Earth on one end and sway freely on the other.

All five elements of nature either complement or contrast one another. This logic stands true in our installation too.
The elements that contradict each other, at a time, one can only be able to interact with one of them - Space & Air. Whereas for the elements who complement each other, one cannot exist without the other - Air & Earth.

The lamps supported by the bamboo pole intersections represent Fire. And so do the sunstrokes on the bamboo poles forming a play of shadows on the ground.
The Water is mimicked by seeds flowing inside hollow bamboo poles - the sound of rain; the sound of silence.

The Brainstorming
The installation evolved with continuous hands-on trial and error. The conceptual focus of the design aided in forming a scaled down physical model from where we worked our ways up. The triangle as a shape has been multiplied onto the geometry multiple times.
